Description of The Explosion-Proof Metal Oxide Varistor MYGM

 

The MYGM type varistor is a component made of MYG varistor as the main component, encapsulated in a V0-grade non-combustible plastic shell, and at the same time using stone sand as a filler. Its resistance value changes with the change of the applied voltage. Linear change, explosion-proof, flame-retardant, large flow, etc.

The advantage of explosion-proof varistor is that it can avoid the instantaneous high temperature that may cause serious consequences to electrical equipment due to the short-circuit failure of the product. Compared with conventional varistors, it has the characteristics of explosion-proof and flame-retardant. Varistor with low cost and compatible with existing conventional circuit board design.

Working principle of The Explosion-Proof Metal Oxide Varistor MYGM

 

Varistor is a voltage-limiting protection device. Using the non-linear characteristics of the varistor, when an overvoltage appears between the two poles of the varistor, the varistor can clamp the voltage to a relatively fixed voltage value, thereby realizing the protection of the subsequent circuit. The main parameters of varistor are: varistor voltage, current capacity, junction capacitance, response time, etc.
The response time of the varistor is ns, which is faster than the air discharge tube and slightly slower than the TVS tube. Under normal circumstances, the response speed of the overvoltage protection for electronic circuits can meet the requirements. The junction capacitance of a varistor is generally in the range of several hundred to several thousand Pf. In many cases, it is not suitable to be directly used in the protection of high-frequency signal lines.
